Q&A Session with Adam Sowers

Q&A Session with Adam Sowers, Sowers Web Technologies

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. All of the services that we provide are "custom-fit" to the wants / needs / requirements / specs of each client we work with. The level of project complexity of frequency of our involvement can vary quite a bit from one project to another. The most common types of projects / jobs that we take on for our clients are Business Websites, Mobile Websites, SEO, SEM, and Custom Development Projects that are designed to serve a specific purpose for the client.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure that you take a look at their recent work or portfolio – Ask them about their best practices, company policies, and make sure they have a "current" role in the industry. It's very important that they have an understanding of general best practices with design, development, optimization, and compatibility.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. We provide dedicated support to our clients, offer completely custom services, have a flexible and affordable pricing model, and we have an overall greater amount of industry-spread experience than most design-firms typically. Our experience is from front-end to back-end, and just about everything in between – While most web design firms have a solid understanding of basic design principles they're typically lacking the experience with optimization in terms of search engine visibility and conversion which is something we work on daily.

Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I really enjoy developing solutions. The best solutions are the ones that answer / resolve seemingly impossible demands, questions, or requirements. Sometimes this can be one of the most rewarding aspects of this job! For example: We may have customer that comes to us with a rather complicated process or issue related to their business that their just not sure how to implement it or if it's even possible. After we completely understand what the details and nature of the problem at hand we may develop a custom solution that addresses the issue and creates a platform to manage, track, and report on specific details. Typically, the final result is a completely satisfied customer who ends up with a real solution that exceeds their expectations.

Another thing that I really love about my job is opportunity I have to learn. This industry is constantly changing, updating, and evolving so we're always working to stay on top of industry standards and trends. Plus, this industry gives me the opportunity to work with a variety of clients in all types of industries. I learn so much! For example: One month I may be studying  / learning everything I can about Hawaii – The next month I'm learning everything about equestrians, equine disciplines, and everything related to that industry. It's really great to work with so many different customers, industries, and projects.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. The most common question that I hear on a daily basis would be: " How much does a website cost? ".  My answer to this: Every website is different. Our pricing model is based on the size, scope, and complexity of the projects that we take on. We provide detailed proposals to our clients that not only outline the work in their project but also break everything down into prices so that they understand what each aspect of their project will cost and why. This also gives everyone involved a better view of the entire project and any important details.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. Personally, I have been in this industry for nearly 15 years. Art has played a large role in my life for just about as long as I remember. Once I figured out that I could explore my creative abilities in a digital manner it became my only medium. I started designing and developing websites when I was very young, while all of my friends we’re “outside playing”- I was inside designing… and it basically grew from there.
